Stress relief in the Curry

Opposition Spokesman for Northern and Remote Australia, Senator Ian Macdonald, and LNP Candidate for Kennedy, Noeline Ikin will join Shadow Treasurer, Joe Hockey, tonight in Cloncurry at the Cattlemans Dinner at the Cloncurry Precinct.

In times of stress, such as the grazing industry is experiencing now, events like this community dinner are an extremely important rallying point for remote and rural Australians, Senator Macdonald said.

Mayor Andrew Daniels and his council are to be commended for their commitment to this event and I am sure that it will bring the people of Cloncurry Shire together in a spirit of fellowship to discuss their problems and possible solutions.

LNP Candidate Noeline Ikin, a rural resident herself, said that those who lived in isolated areas needed community events like this one to keep their spirits up and remind themselves of their place in the community.

Times are very tough out here in the north west, Ms Ikin said

People need to meet and talk to others in the same situation to reassure themselves they are not alone and that they are part of a larger community which shares their concerns.

And Im very pleased that the Shadow Treasurer will be in town to hear at first hand the difficulties being faced by the industry and what a new government might be able to do to help.
