Northern-based LNP Senator Ian Macdonald has congratulated Jonathan Pavetto, from a fifth generation Ingham cane farming family, on his selection as the LNP candidate for the federal seat of Kennedy.
“The North-west needs a representative who will listen and then act on issues important to people in the regions,” Senator Macdonald said.
“I am looking forward to working with Jonathan to take the fight up to Mr Katter.”
“Mr Pavetto has demonstrated his passion and commitment to the North through his long affiliation with the sugar industry, and I have no doubt of his ability to be a strong advocate for the region.
“As Patron Senator for Kennedy, I have worked hard with Noeline Ikin, to secure significant funding for the North-west and to make it an essential part of the Coalition’s Northern Australia White Paper, but the electorate needs a dedicated Lower House member of parliament to concentrate on the issues and concerns of the residents.
“Kennedy voters now have this chance,” Senator Macdonald said.
