Senator builds Singapore relationships in Geneva

Townsville-based LNP Senator Ian Macdonald has met with Singapore parliamentarians on the sidelines of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva to discuss the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Singapore and Australia.

Senator Macdonald said it was a great opportunity to make contacts that could be helpful as the historic defence deal takes shape.

"The Singapore politicians shared my excitement at the positives to both countries from the deal,” Senator Macdonald said.

“At a parliamentary level, I was assured of every support to build the relationships between Townsville and Singapore".

Senator Macdonald said offers were made for introductions to trade and business groups in Singapore.

“It was very useful to establish parliamentary contacts to help promote the new relationship with Singapore.”
