Northern-based Senator Ian Macdonald has welcomed the announcement that a number of councils in the Kennedy electorate will today receive their latest share of the Australian Government $2.1 billion Roads to Recovery programme.
Senator Macdonald said the Australian Government is paying over $117 million to 297 local government authorities nationwide, including $1.6 million across the Kennedy electorate.
“The Roads to Recovery funding will assist with local road construction and maintenance.
“Quarterly payments through the Roads to Recovery Programme allow councils across Australia to direct local road funding to where it is needed most,” said Senator Macdonald.
The Roads to Recovery payments made today come on the back of the $22 million shared by councils in Kennedy last month under the third instalment of the Australian Government Financial Assistance Grants programme.
Senator Macdonald said councils in Kennedy had received the following Roads to Recovery payments today:
- Boulia Shire Council $250,000.00
- Croydon Shire Council $319,601.00
- Etheridge Shire Council $173,636.00
