O’Toole asked to respond to hospital funding claims

Northern based LNP Senator Ian Macdonald has challenged Herbert Labor candidate Cathy O’Toole to explain exactly where the Labor Party is going to find its promised $57billion hospital funding commitment.

“While we’ve not heard very much from the Labor candidate for Herbert about what her party plans to do for the North, Ms O’Toole has been very quick to criticise the Federal Coalition’s record investment in Northern Australia,” Senator Macdonald said.

“I can only assume she will be just as opaque in clarifying for the electorate exactly how Labor intends to fund their $57billion grand funding plan for hospitals.”

Senator Macdonald said the Labor Party had a dismal record when it comes to funding election promises.

“If there is one thing we can expect from the Labor Party, it is empty promises.”

“Under a Labor Government, the health system was left to rot and wither – despite desperate efforts to prop it up with headline grabbing announcements, which failed to actually allocate any money in the Budget.

“It seems they are rolling out the same tactics again, trying to appease those voters with short memories.

“This is the perfect opportunity for Ms O’Toole to tell the voters in Herbert just how Labor intend to fix our hospitals, and where that money will come from,” Senator Macdonald said.
