The Northern Australia White Paper Implementation Oversight Committee yesterday presented its second Annual Report to the Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull.
Chair of the Committee, Northern-based Queensland Senator Ian Macdonald, said he was delighted to be delivering such good news about the momentum of Northern development.
“Our report shows that 87% of the commitments made in the Northern Australia White Paper are now substantially in progress, and some have been completed,” Senator Macdonald said.
“This momentum has certainly ramped up over the past twelve months.
“It is a wonderful achievement by the Federal Government in just two years since the release of the Our North, Our Future: White Paper for Developing Northern Australia.”
The Oversight Committee’s second Annual report (attached) details at Appendix A – which commences at page 23 – each of the 102 commitments in the White Paper and provides a status update on each as ‘completed’, ‘in-progress’ or ‘no action’.
“The work of the Committee’s is to ensure that promises made are being kept,” Senator Macdonald said.
“The report will also inform the annual statement to Parliament by the Minister for Northern Australia, which is expected later this year.”
