Hot on the heels of the Federal Minister for Aged Care earlier this week, the Federal Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Senator the Hon Nigel Scullion will make a brief visit tomorrow at the request of Townsville based Government Senator Ian Macdonald.
The Minister will re-visit Cowboys House and James Cook University’s Indigenous Education and Research Centre and make a funding announcement at the Ryan Catholic College during his brief stop-over.
Townsville based Government Senator Ian Macdonald said he was keen to welcome the Minister back to the region, after earlier visits throughout the year, to during one of which he officially open Cowboys House.
“Minister Scullion is a welcome visitor to our region. Under his watch as the Minister for Indigenous Affairs, there have been some marvellous outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, not only here in the north, but right across the country,” Senator Macdonald said.
“I am particularly proud of the strong track record of achievement of many of our local indigenous organisations, such as the Yumba-Meta Housing Association, who will also meet with the Minister during his visit.”
