Macdonald Visits Drought-Affected Queensland Towns

Northern-based Queensland Senator Ian Macdonald says he will see first-hand the effects of the drought that has battered many Queensland towns when he visits councils in the west of the state this week.

Senator Macdonald will meet with Mayors and councillors from the Flinders, Winton, Boulia, Diamantina, Barcoo, Quilpie and the Paroo shire councils during his visits.

‘Western Queensland communities do not see too many Federal politicians, so this is something that I like to do as regularly as I can,” Senator Macdonald said.

“The ongoing impacts of severe drought makes this trip even more important. It is crucial that parliamentarians can see the challenges that regional Queenslanders face every day.

“It is important that I have a good chat with the mayors, councillors and local residents.

“I want to do what I can to continue the work that the Australian Government has already started with these drought-affected communities. I will also be listening to council campaigns for a review of the Financial Assistance Grant program and hearing about the ways the Federal Government can assist with infrastructure for these smaller communities.”

The Senator will travel to the following:
