Macdonald proud of new MP

The maiden speech to Parliament by Michelle Landry, the recently elected MP for Capricornia, was a clear demonstration of her commitment to her Central Queensland electorate, according to long-time supporter, Senator Ian Macdonald.

I think the people of Central Queensland will be touched, as I was, with Michelles story and, like me, they will be proud of her vision and determination to look after her constituents, Senator Macdonald said.

Her pledge to re-awaken Capricornia will strike a chord with people who have been taken for granted for too long by a succession of ineffective, seat-warming Labor members.

Having campaigned with Ms Landry over the last two elections, I know that her energy and dedication will serve the people of Capricornia well.

In her maiden speech she recalled Sir Robert Menzies forgotten Australians and said she had learned from her mother the value of rolling up her sleeves, getting on with the job and putting others first qualities she would apply to representing the people of Capricornia.

Michelle is the right person at the right time for Capricornia, Senator Macdonald said.

She believes passionately in the potential of Capricornia, and is determined to see that potential fulfilled.

She will work with all her constituents, whether they voted for her or not, and is keen to hear as many of peoples concerns as she can.

I predict a bright future for Capricornia with Michelle Landry as their representative and I welcome her to the Australian Parliament.
