Lift for North Queensland businesses

Farm businesses and businesses generally in North Queensland have had a hand up with the Coalitions release of a new employment guide for small business, North Queensland Senator Ian Macdonald said today.

Senator Macdonald said the guide would make it easier for small businesses in North Queensland to hire new employees.

This is the latest measure in a suite aimed at helping small businesses by reducing red tape, cutting taxes and giving practical assistance to keep and generate more jobs, Senator Macdonald said.

The idea of this guide is to help business owners understand the process and conditions around hiring staff, to make it easier for them.

Senator Macdonald said that an interactive on-line learning course had also been developed to help employers improve their skills in hiring and inducting new staff.

These measures add to the priority Small Business Hotline inside the Fair Work Ombudsmans office, he said.

The hotline has already fielded 50,000 calls in four months and is helping small business owners to get speedy and accurate advice so that they can get back to running their business.

The new guide which offers step-by-step processes, as well as best practice recruitment tips, can be downloaded
