Exporters across the North are being given an opportunity to showcase their expertise as part of the 55th Australian Export Awards.
Northern based Government Senator Ian Macdonald said applications are now open for the awards, which celebrate the success of Australian products and services on the world stage.
“We are fortunate to boast such strong export industries across the North, all of which makes a valuable contribution to our regional economy,” Senator Macdonald said.
“These Awards are an opportunity for some of these exporters to showcase their innovative products and their achievements on a wider scale.”
Applicants are first judged in the Queensland export awards program, with the winners progressing to become national finalists in the Australian Export Awards.
Applications are accepted in 12 national export award categories, demonstrating the diversity of Australia’s export sectors, including Regional Exporter, Small Business, Digital Technologies, e-Commerce, Health and Biotechnology.
Last year’s national winners included a naval architectural firm and producers of medical simulation technology, soil moisture control systems, and modular mineral-processing plants.
Australia’s exporters generate far-reaching benefits for the Australian economy. The 81 national finalists in the 2016 Australian Export Awards generated more than $12.3billion in export sales in 2015-16 and employed more than 34,500 people.
The 55th Australian Export Awards program is co-presented by Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI). Visit www.exportawards.gov.au for more information and how to enter.
