Northern-based Senator Ian Macdonald today encouraged North Queenslanders to support NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week activities.
“The Australian Government has allocated $2.2 million to support more than 550 local community events across Australia, including morning teas, community barbecues, cultural performances, traditional cooking and student activities,” he said.
“NAIDOC Week (July 6-13) gives us an opportunity to come together and celebrate the unique place of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia,” he said.
The national theme this year is Serving Country: Centenary & Beyond.
