Apprenticeship opportunities for indigenous job seekers

Indigenous workers looking for new opportunities are invited to apply for up to 100 12 month apprenticeships at the Department of Human Services, North Queensland based Senator Ian Macdonald said today.

These apprenticeships offer 12 months of training and will give the successful applicants a great launching pad for a public sector career, Senator Macdonald said.

The Department is the biggest and most diverse federal government employer and there are a wide range of careers on offer under the apprenticeship program.

Senator Macdonald said that in North Queensland apprenticeships would be offered in Mackay, Bowen, Whitsunday, Charters Towers, Townsville and Cairns and applications would close in late March.

The indigenous apprenticeship scheme offers one-on-one indigenous mentors to provide advice and support as well as training and development opportunities, he said.

I encourage all interested people to apply.
