Expressions of Interest Open At Adani Carmichael Mine
Queensland job seekers can now start submitting their expressions of interest to work at Adani’s $2 billion Carmichael coal mine in the Galilee Basin.
Adani has started advertising for a show of interest across a range of trades and professions from civil engineers to environmental positions, with the Indian mining giant planning to commence construction after announcing it would self-finance the mine and associated rail project.
“This announcement has been anticipated for a long time, especially by those who are struggling to find work in north and central Queensland, where the unemployment rate is critical,” Senator Macdonald said.
Northern-based Senator Ian Macdonald is encouraging interested North-Queenslanders to submit their expressions of interest.
“Townsville and Rockhampton are expected to be hubs for Adani’s workforce on the Carmichael mine, and I encourage residents from all of the region’s towns – including smaller centres like Ayr, Ingham and Bowen – to put themselves forward for work at the Carmichael mine.
Adani has confirmed that the project will create about 1500 direct jobs and 8250 indirect jobs.
“These are jobs that would be denied to North Queenslanders if it were left to Bill Shorten, the Queensland Labor Government and the Greens Political Party.
“I spoke in the Senate yesterday in support of the Adani Carmichael project, and again today – in support of the economic development and much needed jobs that this mine will bring to the North.
Senator Macdonald highlighted the hypocrisy of federal and State Labor politicians who claim to be pro-development but who are ultimately more interested in securing Greens preferences.
“I was disappointed, but not at all surprised, that not one of the Queensland Labor Senators took the opportunity today, to speak in favour of the Adani project.
“And the hypocrisy of the Greens Political Party knows no bounds. Any lie, any untruth, any brain-washing of children is not beyond the tactics of a party determined to destroy the Australian economy, cost the jobs of Queenslanders and the advancement of the poor in India.”
