Solar Communities Program serves an ace

The Australian Government’s $5 million Solar Communities Program has served a winner, with a $10,000 grant announced for the Western Suburbs Tennis Club Inc.

Northern based Federal Government Senator Ian Macdonald said the money will go towards the installation of a solar Photovoltaic (PV) System.

“This is fantastic news for the Western Suburbs Tennis Club Inc which is a great local sporting organisation in Herbert,” Senator Macdonald said.

“The PV systems allow for sunlight to be directly converted into electricity, saving money on expensive power bills.

“I understand that there is still funding available for several projects in the Herbert electorate and I encourage local sporting clubs, scouts groups, surf lifesaving clubs and the like to apply.”

Round One of this important initiative was hugely successful, providing over $2.8 million to over 200 different community groups.
