Local funding to support Veterans Health Week activities

Local ex-Service organisations and community groups across the North are being encouraged to apply for grant funding to assist them to host events as part of national Veterans’ Health Week.

Northern based Government Senator Ian Macdonald said local groups with a link to the veteran community can apply for funding to support an activity relevant to this year’s theme of physical activity, during Veterans’ Health Week, from Saturday 21 October to Sunday 29 October.

“Regular exercise is an important part of managing health and wellbeing for everyone, but even more so for our veterans, and it’s fitting that this year’s theme will focus on staying active,” Senator Macdonald said.

“Our local ex-service organisations and community groups provide fantastic support to our veteran communities, and I encourage them to apply for funding to support an event this year.”

Applications close on 31 July, 2017.

The Veterans’ Health Week funding application form, information kit, resource guide and other documentation to assist activity organisers are available on the Department of Veterans’ Affairs website www.dva.gov.au/veterans-health-week. Alternatively, you can contact the Department on 1800 555 254.
